BCIA certifies individuals who meet education and training standards in biofeedback and progressively recertifies those who advance their knowledge through continuing education.
BCIA is recognized as the certification body for the clinical practice of biofeedback by the Association of Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB), the Biofeedback Federation of Europe (BFE), and the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR).

BCIA endorses the American Psychological Association “Multicultural Guidelines.” BCIA professionals recognize the importance of multiculturalism and diversity in clinical and optimal performance practice, education, and research, and treat individuals from diverse ethnic, linguistic, racial, sexual orientation, and gender identity backgrounds with appreciation and sensitivity.

BCIA offers Biofeedback Certification, Neurofeedback Certification, and Pelvic Muscle Dysfunction Biofeedback Certification. Saybrook University's Applied Psychophysiology Doctoral Program Is WASC Accredited!
This is the first time a doctoral degree in this field has been approved by a regional accrediting agency. The new degree will begin being offered this coming January 2018. The Department of Psychophysiology will be part of Saybrook’s College of Integrative Medicine and Health Sciences, along with current departments including Mind Body Medicine, Integrative Nutrition, and Integrative Wellness Coaching.
BCIA Welcomes Giuseppe Chiarenza, MD, BCN from Italy
Dr. Chiarenza's fields of interest are developmental neuropsychology and neurophysiology for normal and pathological conditions, particularly dyslexia and ADHD. Additional interests include analysis of electrical brain responses (electroencephalography (EEG), quantified EEG (qEEG), and event-related potentials (ERPs) in combination with neuropsychological tasks for the investigation of brain cognitive processes in children and adults. Dr. Chiarenza uses Neurofeedback to treat children with behavioral disorders and adults with anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders. He has numerous publications and serves as the President of the International Organization of Psychophysiology.
